Internet phone provider Skype reported Thursday that many of its customers cant log in to the service.
The company, which is owned by eBay Inc., said on its Web site that the service should be back up in 12 to 24 hours. The company said its engineering team has determined it is a software problem.
Skype urged users to keep the program running and as soon as the problem was fixed they would be automatically logged back in.
Its just the latest problem for Internet phone providers as VoIP giant Vonage has been fighting a widely publicized patent dispute with Verizon and SunRocket suddenly shut down last month. And last week Teleblend, which had been selected to provide service to displaced SunRocket users, had its own outage; the company initially implied the problem was with GlobalCrossings network. Teleblend later retracted those comments.
Security and UCaaS and SD-WAN, the triple-headed monster, dominated the news last week. https://t.co/Yoq7yrjhkf
