Helio LLC has Introduced Ocean, calling it the first dual-slider combining a numeric keypad and a separate QWERTY keyboard in a single device.
Ocean is designed to be a social networking tool, Helio said, and it merges instant, text and picture messages and e-mails from all portals, ISPs and corporate exchange servers in one location. It also delivers music downloads, VoD, a high-resolution camera, an HTML browser, MySpace on Helio, GPS-enabled Google Maps, Buddy Beacon and more, the vendor said.
“Finally, you don’t have to choose between a device that’s good for talking but a nightmare for messaging, or one that’s good at messaging but feels like you’re holding a brick up to your face when you try to make a call,” said Sky Dayton, CEO of Helio. “With Ocean, Helio has changed the shape of 3G with a new kind of device the dual-slide a design that doesn’t compromise on voice, text, IM, e-mail, surfing and every other way you want to stay connected.”
The 3G device sports a 2.4-inch, 260K color high-resolution QVGA display, external stereo speakers, a 2.0-megapixel camera with digital zoom and flash, more than two hours of continuous video recording, Bluetooth for wireless voice and stereo Bluetooth for music and videos. It also has 200MB internal memory expandable via microSD to more than 2GB.
The Ocean is planned for launch this spring at a suggested retail price of $295.
