Telcordia continued its embrace of the MVNO market Tuesday with the announcement of kajeet as a customer. The service provider will go after the tween mobile market.
kajeets kid-friendly pay-as-you-go approach uses the Telcordia Hosted Solution for MVNOs, part of the Telcordia Service Delivery Suite that includes provisioning, rating and control functions, along with APIs for third-party application developers and customer care systems.
It supports interactive voice, data and value-added services, and includes the kajeet Configurator, which lets tweens and their families manage budgets, set up call lists and monitor account activity.
Parental controls, which carriers can make available to users via a Web portal, include:
WalletManager, which allows kids and parents to determine who pays for what talk time or text messaging; ContactManager, which can be used to establish who can or cant call or text the kajeet phone; and TimeManager, which lets kids and parents decide when the phone can and cannot be used (such as no calls or texts during school).
Such bells and whistles help providers segment and target their bases. With our hosted solution you can create dynamic offers and associate dynamic campaigns, said Cathy McMahon, executive director of hosted solutions at Telcordia. You can present different offers for different subscribers, adding that the real-time functionality in the platform aids service providers in time to market, critical to success as the segment matures.
While were seeing some settling in the MVNO market, its clearly gained traction, and the channel itself is still growing, she said.
