Master agency PlanetOne Communications Inc. announced at its Presidents Club meeting Friday at the Valley Ho Hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz., that it has created an exclusive agent tier as an option for its subagents. The new platinum level carries the highest commissions and an additional bonus structure.
PlanetOne CEO Ted Schuman said the program is not designed for every agent but is a good option for some smaller agents that do not want to manage a lot of carrier agreements or want to consolidate their billings under one plan to maximize incentives.
PlanetOnes existing program has bronze, silver and gold tiers, which are nonexclusive.
Schuman said the platinum tier offers agents a chance to transition all new business to an exclusive agreement. He said the commission is 20 percent higher than what is paid for gold level agents. In addition to commissions, PlanetOne is paying out quarterly bonuses on top of carrier incentives on a quarterly basis based on incremental revenue of $10,000 or greater net growth. Platinum agents also get credits for free training at the PlanetOne Road Shows.
Schuman said participation in the plan is flexible, such that PlanetOne will allow agents to maintain carrier agreements for products or geographies the master agencys agreements do not cover. He added that about 95 percent of the time, PlanetOne can handle customer requirements.
Schuman said platinum agents also have the option of rolling up their commitments under the PlanetOne contracts. PlanetOne will manage this for a nominal monthly administrative fee. He explained carriers are amenable to consolidating agreements since they are not losing the business and it often supports their goals of minimizing the number of agent relationships they need to manage and support.
PlanetOne also announced it is adding several new carriers to its portfolio, including AireSprings nationwide local offer, TNCI through the Agent Alliance MSA and Sprint Wireless through an agreement with another master agency member of the Alliance.
It also will be forming a chairmans council of agents within the next 30 days to provide feedback on the companys agency program. There will be six top-performing members serving one- to two-year terms in rotation. They will meet once or twice a year for in-person workgroups. Schuman issued a call for nominations at the Presidents Club meeting.
