Sylantro Systems Corp. continues in its quest to bring enhanced communications to server provider networks with Synapps Server, a Web Services API platform aimed at enabling service providers and their partners to leverage open Web standards to develop new voice applications and separate call processing from the service layer.
This new platform, slated for availability in the third quarter, enables mashups, which are new applications and services that merge multiple media and applications. For example, it could be used to enable a Web site customer service application in which an individual visiting a site could use click to call to initiate a communication with a customer service representative; that CSR would then get a screen pop of that customers information and the Web site the customer is looking at; and the CSR would be able to launch a conference call with a third person if additional expertise were needed.
Synapps Server can also support mobile applications. For example, the company at VON this week announced that FirstHand Technologies has integrated its Mobile Console with Synapps to enable carriers without wireless properties to deliver mobile calling and voice call continuity services to users mobile phones. No service providers have yet committed to use this fixed/mobile convergence application in their networks.
