XO Communications and Nextlink Wireless Inc. have rolled out broadband wireless technology in the Phoenix area.
The high-speed network services businesses over wireless links at speeds ranging from 10mbps to 155mbps. The technology can support communications services such as high-speed Internet access, metro Ethernet, VoIP and WAN in campus or business park settings.
The company can provide the services to qualified line-of-sight locations within a range of up to 12 miles from wireless hubs deployed in the city. The wireless technology allows XO Communications to expand its network coverage in Phoenix beyond its metro fiber network, the company said.
The coverage initially includes the downtown Phoenix area, but XO said it has the ability to deploy additional wireless hubs to reach locations across the Phoenix metropolitan area including Paradise Valley, Scottsdale and Tempe.
The Phoenix launch expands XO Communications wireless coverage to 10 major metropolitan areas, including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, San Diego, Tampa and Washington, D.C.
