Leap Wireless International Inc. began offering Cricket cellular service in the Kansas City metro area this week. The launch includes the sign-up of around 40 indirect retailers and 33 premier dealers throughout the Kansas City market area.
The carrier also opened three retail stores, with a fourth to soon follow.
The Cricket CDMA service is now available to around 1.6 million new potential customers, who will have as part of their regular service plan a calling area spanning 1,407 square miles in Missouri and Kansas.
Our continuing growth into new markets such as Kansas City further demonstrates the scalability of our business, said Doug Hutcheson, president and CEO for Leap. With our entrance into Missouri, our Cricket service is now offered in 22 states across the U.S. We are pleased with the growth of the service into new markets especially as the reception to Cricket continues to underscore its mass-market appeal and overall value.
