Nortel Networks this week unveiled a new line of voice, data and wireless products for SMBs, and announced an increased focus on programs, training and support tools for channel partners working with SMBs.
The expanded SMB portfolio made up of four new products and enhancements to Business Communication Manager (BCM) combines WLAN, Ethernet switching, security, and converged voice and data. It will be available in August.
The product line contains the Business Ethernet Switch 100 Family, which powers devices such as IP phones and wireless access points; the Business Secure Router 222; the Business Access Point 120; and Business Element Manager, which provides a network management interface for streamlining tasks and simplifying operations.
Nortel also has upgraded software for the BCM 200 and BCM 400. The enhancements give SMBs access to ad-hoc conferencing for up to 40 participants; expanded IP set support; and greater security and voice-enabled WAN support.
To capitalize on SMBs desire to work with resellers, Nortel has introduced SMB-specific sales training and marketing for its North America channel partners. The new channel programs include the SMB Connection Partner Community, an online community for communication between Nortel and its SMB channel partners, as well as Blueprints for Success, a tool for identifying best practices for Nortel products to SMBs.
