Tekelec is highlighting new and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) solutions, as well as customer deployments of the Tekelec 8000 Wireless Multimedia Gateway, this week at CTIA Wireless 2006 in Las Vegas.
The Tekelec 3300 Convergence Gateway, which supports both IMS-ready and IMS-enabled networks and applications, supports voice call continuity for FMC when deployed with the Tekelec 9000 Distributed Switching Solution and Tekelec 6000 VoIP Application Server. As an adjunct component to the EAGLE 5 Integrated Signaling System or a standalone element, the Tekelec 3300 will support service capability interaction manager for multiple solutions within existing intelligent network and new IMS networks, providing IN-to-IN and IN-to-IMS service interaction.
Further expanding its FMC capabilities, Tekelec has introduced its CDMA FMC solution, which is in trials with a major North American wireless operator. The solution offers seamless hand off between CDMA and Wi-Fi networks for dual-mode devices. Mobile users can access a full IP Centrex feature set, productivity tools and enterprise applications as well as the Tekelec 6000 Web Portal specifically designed for mobile phones. The Tekelec FMC solution is based on the Tekelec 9000 and Tekelec 6000, enabling mobility management, service convergence and transition to IMS architectures.
Tekelec also has a GSM FMC deployment with Israeli-based operator MiRS, and other trials are under way.
During the show, Tekelec has announced that Leap Wireless International Inc. is deploying multiple distributed Tekelec 8000 Converged Multimedia Gateways and centralized Tekelec 3000 Media Gateway Controllers to support its VoIP and data network across its entire operating territory.
Tekelec also announced interoperability between the Tekelec 8000 and Samsung Telecommunications Americas SSX-300C Wireless Softswitch, the first step toward a joint solution for Samsungs Mobile NGN solution for North America.
