The New Millennium Research Council on Wednesday at TelecomNEXT will host a discussion on whether a multiplayer video market with advanced applications and services will benefit consumers.
The analyst firm will present findings from new research into the potential consumer benefits such as more provider choices and lower prices that could result from telcos entering the cable market. Speakers also will address the impacts of a streamlined franchising process.
The slated participants are:
* David P. McClure, president and CEO, U.S. Internet Industry Association;
* Steve Pociask, president, American Consumer Institute;
* Lawrence Spiwak, president, Phoenix Center for Advanced Legal and Economic Public Policy Studies; and
* Robert Johnson, president, Consumers for Cable Choice.
Each panelist will present findings of his research and work during the hour-long discussion, which will start at 11 a.m. in the Mandalay Bay Convention Center during TelecomNEXT.
