ITC^DeltaCom Inc., a CLEC in the southeastern United States, is installing GENBAND Inc.s G6 Universal Media Gateway in its network.
The G6 platform interworks with the Class 5 signaling protocols and packet protocols so Class 5 features and call control can be provided to telephones over the packet network.
“GENBAND’s G6 is a robust gateway platform that will allow us to expand our packet voice service offering over our existing network infrastructure,” said Jim O’Brien, executive vice president of operations at ITC^DeltaCom. “It also provides the flexibility for us to deliver advanced softswitched-based VoIP services and new applications simultaneously from the same platform.”
GENBAND’s G6 Universal Media Gateway is an open standards, circuit-to-packet platform that is deployed in a service provider’s switching office, headend or PoP.
