XO Communications (Booth 1412) at COMPTEL said it has expanded the availability of its Ethernet services.
The carrier is using Ethernet-over-copper technology to extend the reach of its Ethernet services footprint beyond on-net buildings served by its fiber network to businesses served by last-mile copper.
Now available in more than 60 metropolitan markets, XO Ethernet Services will enable businesses at copper-fed locations to connect multiple locations or receive high-speed, IP-ready network access for the first time. Businesses with widely dispersed locations served by either fiber or copper facilities now will be able to integrate all of their offices and employees onto one corporate network and have high-speed Internet access.
XO is offering the service directly to businesses and service providers on a wholesale basis.
The ability to extend the reach of XO Ethernet Services will be a major boost to business customers as they grapple with an ever-expanding world of content and applications across geographically diverse locations, said Charlie Cary, vice president of marketing at XO Communications. In addition, XO Ethernet Services eliminates network bottlenecks and unnecessary costs to improve the operation, management and performance of their vital communications infrastructure.
XO Ethernet Services enable businesses to connect LANs within and between metropolitan areas and provide transport for high-speed Internet access at speeds ranging from 10mbps, 100mbps and 1gbps. The services target enterprise networks, storage area network providers, application and ISPs. The transport solution offers connections at full network speed, removing the network bottlenecks experienced with other forms of network transport.
