ITC^DeltaCom Inc. (Booth 1104), a provider of communication services to carriers serving enterprises, has announced several new services and features that it will be offering this week, including an expansion into four additional BellSouth Corp. central offices in the greater Atlanta area. ITC also will introduce a new wholesale T1 access product and a new wholesale local access service.
The expansion with BellSouth includes the cities of Norcross, Alpharetta and Marietta, Ga., bringing ITC^DeltaCom closer to the end customers and its service provider customers.
The new wholesale T1 access product will enable service providers to get T1 local loops out to their customers locations directly from ITC rather than the ILEC. The service is available in more than 500 rate centers in the Southeast, which covers that territory nearly ubiquitously.
Another advantage of the new T1 access service is that the T1s can be hubbed back from the various rate centers to a central ITC location and then handed off to customers. For example, T1s throughout Georgia can be hubbed back to Atlanta and handed to the customer on a multiplexed DS3 or higher bandwidth or as individual T1s.
The Wholesale Local Access Service is designed to be an interface between the PSTN and an IP network. It includes origination and termination service off of the PSTN and is aimed at providers of voice over IP, such as broadband voice providers or cable TV companies that need an interface to the PSTN or to any TDM network, said Ton Schroeder, vice president of Interstate Fibernet, the division of ITC^DeltaCom that is exhibiting at COMPTEL PLUS.
ITC^DeltaCom will provide local DIDs, as well as 911 service and access to the line interface database. Customers will use their own VoIP gateways.
ITC^DeltaCom is headquartered in West Point, Ga., and through its operating subsidiaries, provides telecommunications and technology services to businesses in the southeastern United States.
The company has a fiber-optic network spanning approximately 14,500 route miles, including more than 10,900 route miles of owned fiber, and offers a comprehensive suite of voice and data communications services, including local, long-distance, enhanced data, Internet, colocation and managed services, as well as selling customer premises equipment to end-user customers.
