Nineteen foursomes took to the links in the semi-annual COMPTEL Golf Tournament Sunday at EastLake Country Club. The event was sponsored by Microsoft.
The course, located 20 minutes from downtown San Diego, is an 18-hole, par 72 Ted Robinson-designed championship golf course featuring colorful fairways of bluegrass and rye and a view of nearby Mt. Miguel. The course’s challenges include six lakes, three with waterfalls, as well as 72 sand traps, and bent grass greens.
First-place winners were the foursome from Iowa Network Services. They included Scott Cousins, Rusty Daniels, Mary Overson and Scott Rodberg. Each won a rolling laptop case, golf shoe bag and golf hat.
Second-place winners included Steve Ray, Lightyear Networks; Drew Walker, Straightpath Communications; Alex Markobrada, Interstate Fibernet; and Robert Sweezie, ITS Communications. Each won a rolling laptop case and golf hat.
“Most Honest Group” honors went to the foursome that included Pam Dube, Advanced Software Concepts; Shawn King, Advanced Software Concepts; Dan Wickersham, CoStreet Communications; and Hunter Potts, Syniverse Technologies.
Tom Carlson, ComTec, and Chris Paula, EarthLink, won for closest to the pin. Jeff Crownover, Pac-West Telecomm, and Lori Marti, Xspedius Communications, won for longest drive. Each received a golf shoe bag and golf hat.
