The 25th anniversary of the COMPTEL PLUS Conference + Expo opened to record attendance on Sunday evening, as the association’s president and CEO, Earl Comstock, and board chairman, J. Sherman Henderson III, cut the ceremonial ribbon with the help of two San Diego Chargers cheerleaders.
On Monday afternoon, COMPTEL said it already had surpassed its fall 2005 numbers and is on track to beat its spring 2005 numbers, recording 2,500 registrants. That energy showed on the exhibit hall floor. Jeff Davidson, who works in wholesale/carrier sales for Broadwing, said he had only been on the floor for 90 minutes on Monday morning and in that short time received four quality leads. “People seem to be serious about what they’re doing,” he said.
Similarly, Tracy Biggs, director of carrier sales-northeast for Qwest Communications International Inc., said the carrier’s booth was attracting a number of visitors. There were “a lot of old faces and a lot of new,” she said.
