Entrisphere unleashed a flurry of fiber access product news today at TelecomNEXT.
The company has introduced two new modular fiber-fed remotes that support all triple-play and legacy communications services, while slashing the cost of delivering them across a range of applications and environments.
The new BLM T500 and BLM T550 optical network units (ONUs) are the first in Entrispheres new T5 Series of fiber-fed remote devices, which allow carriers to cost-effectively extend the benefits of fiber-based services to business and residential customers in fiber-to-the-business, multi-tenant/multi-dwelling unit, fiber-to-the-curb and fiber-to-the-node applications.
With the T5 Series, Entrisphere now offers a complete package of fiber-based applications from single family homes and small business all the way up to large multitenant residential and commercial buildings.
The T5 Series ONUs are packet-based remotes with the same IP service-aware features that are embedded in the BLM 1500, Entrispheres flagship multiservice access platform. The new ONUs deliver IPTV, POTS, VoIP, high-speed data, ADSL2+, VDSL2, DS1, Ethernet, RF video, high-cap data and specials services. There are flexible mounting and enclosure options.
Also new from Entrisphere is a complete GPON access solution including network platforms, software, network terminals and management systems. These products are based on the proven BLM 1500, T-Series and EntriView product lines.
GPON which several major carriers using an ATM-based version of passive optical networking technology called BPON, now are evaluating allows the access network to handle the increased bandwidth requirements of both legacy and next IP-based services over fiber.
The core of the Entrisphere GPON solution includes optical line terminals (OLTs), optical network terminals (ONTs), ONUs and management systems. The solution also includes software upgrades that expand existing IP service-aware features such as IGMP multicasting, VLAN stacking and tagging, and security upgrades. These software additions also make the system ready for IMS integration.
Entrisphere further has enhanced existing key features including higher density GigE uplinks and integrated voice gateways for increased TDM and VoIP support.
In addition, Entrisphere announced a series of new product features that enhance the performance of the GPON OLT and ONTs in the access network. These new features include new SIP-based VoIP service on all of its ONTs and ONUs, coupled with integrated voice gateways to legacy Class 5 switches and H.248 softswitches in the BLM 1500. (As an alternative to using an integrated gateway, the system interoperates with external SIP and H.248 voice gateways.)
And Enterprise took the wraps off the new BLM T151 and BLM T300 ONTs the latest additions to its T-Series family of products. The T151 enables fast and cost-effective delivery of voice, data and video services to small and medium-sized businesses or branch offices. The T300 is a fixed configuration ONT that delivers voice, data and video to small MDUs serving up to four homes.
Our business customers have been asking about faster data services, and the T151 facilitates our fiber-to-the-business rollout by making it easy for us to deliver high-speed Ethernet along with legacy DS1 services on a pay-as-you-go basis, said Jim Baase, vice president of engineering at Fibertech. Entrisphere has been a responsive partner in helping us to quickly and cost-effectively deploy fiber-based services for these customers.
All these products, for which pricing was not disclosed, are slated for availability in the second quarter.
