The nonprofit organization, Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe (DANTE), which is building the GÉANT2 network for Europes National Research and Education Networks initiative, is looking to network owner Interoute for dark fiber and managed wavelength services.
The core of the network which extends beyond the London-Paris-Amsterdam-Frankfurt rectangle is based on dark fiber. Interoute is providing 25 percent of the 12,000 fiber route kilometers; it will provision fiber in Austria, France, Italy, Spain and Switzerland, as well as wavelength services linking Austria and Germany.
The GÉANT2 network could serve 30 million users in 34 countries.
