Interconnection services provider FiberNet Telecom Group Inc. at TelcoTV said it has implemented a customized translational cross connect for FLAG Telecom, a provider of international network transport, connectivity and data services.
“An increasing number of our clients like FLAG are demanding customized services and solutions that go beyond the portfolios of traditional service providers,” says Jon A. DeLuca, president and CEO of FiberNet.
FLAG needed a network solution that would allow the company to offer Ethernet services available in North America while conforming to international transmission protocol standards. FiberNet created a customized translational cross connect solution that allows FLAG to establish interconnections among varying means of data exchange.
“We have seen a tremendous increase in demand for wavelength capacity across the Atlantic in the first half of 2005. To meet this demand, we needed to
extend bi-directional STM-1 to GigE protocol conversion across the network and also extend our Gigabit Ethernet circuit on the metro network in New York City, says Peter Boland, senior vice president of engineering and network planning for FLAG.
FiberNet and FLAG have worked together for a number of years.
