Telecommunications provider TMC has become its own independent responsible organization (Resp Org), a designation that holds several benefits for agents and their customers.
Being a Resp Org means users are able to manage their own toll-free numbers. This is especially important for large enterprise customers and call centers, says Susan Davidson, TMC’s vice president of sales and business development. If an agent needs a unique selling point, this is it, she adds.
TMC gives businesses access to the SMS database to reserve and set up their own 800 numbers, and to control traffic with percentage allocation and geographical routing among multiple carriers. The turnaround time is minimal, says Davidson. Previously, customers had to wait for TMC to route requests through its underlying carriers, instead of being able to make changes themselves.
“By becoming our own Resp Org and extending this service to our agents we’ve reduced our customers’ transaction costs and virtually eliminated downtime,” Davidson says. “If a carrier goes down, TMC or businesses that choose to act as their own Resp Org access the SMS database immediately to switch the traffic.”
TMC also announced today its Master Reseller Partnership with Level 3 Communications Inc. Level 3 limits the number of master partnerships it has. The deal gives TMC full access to Level 3s wholesale network, which allows channel partners to offer low-priced data products. It also means VoIP services, colocation and the like have to go through TMC, explains Davidson. TMC has its own softswitch and terminates VoIP traffic on the Level 3 network.
