Motorola Inc. at TELECOM 05 is demonstrating several new technologies it expects to accelerate the deployment of IPTV-based entertainment services.
The products include IPTV over GPON and BPON; high-density optical networks terminals; HDTV; and multistream IP residential gateways.
When used with the Motorola AXS2200, the ONT6000 MDU/MTU Optical Network Terminal turns buildings passed by fiber into units served by triple-play services over one fiber PON. The ONT6000 delivers residential and business services such as broadband data, HDTV, video on demand and games online to MDUs and office buildings.
Motorola also is showcasing its RG3000 Residential Gateway, which lets operators deliver services including high-definition television; the Motorola BPON Card, which helps operators using the Motorola Multi-Service Access Platform to upgrade infrastructure with a FTTH IPTV solution; and the
Motorola RG2400E Residential Gateway, an all-IP multistream RG2400E residential gateway that provides the functionality of multiple set-top boxes.
Motorola also announced at the trade show that ComSouth; ATMC, a membership cooperative; PBT Telecom; and Bulloch Telephone each have signed contracts with the company. Motorola will deliver triple-play solutions to the independent operating companies.
“Service providers of all sizes are aggressively positioning themselves to launch new services that require advanced optical delivery platforms,” says Tony Zona, general manager of FTTP for Motorola Wireline Networks. “Our FTTP and FTTN solutions provide operators with the flexible platform they need to economically drive additional revenue now while providing a seamless migration path for the future.”
