General Bandwidth (Booth 1524) has implemented PseudoWire Emulation End-to-End in its G6 Universal Media Gateway.
Pseudo wire is about being able to carry any kind of service over a packet network. The technology came out of an IETF working group called Pseudo Wire Emulation Edge to Edge, or PWE3 (said pee wee three).
Jody Bennett, vice president of marketing for General Bandwidth, says PWE3 allows General Bandwidths G6 to be used for cellular backhaul a new application for the companys technology; PBX trunking over IP, so service providers can offer packetized services even to those enterprises with traditional PBXs; and legacy access migration.
Enabling G6 with PWE3 requires just a software upgrade, which will be available in General Bandwidths next software release. Were shipping to our first customers in December, said Bennett of the new capability.
