Union Telephone Deploys Intecs Convergent Service Activation Solution

Intec (Booth 1119), a global provider of OSS/BSS, has confirmed the production cutover by Union Telephone Company of Wyoming to Intecs Inter-activatE. The convergent service activation solution enables Union Telephone to automate and streamline its service operations by using Inter-activatE for uniform delivery of bundled diverse service packages, including POTS, TDMA, GSM/GPRS, voice mail, as well as future services.

The rollout of services using Inter-activatE represents the final milestone in a multiphased legacy systems replacement project that provided Union Telephone with a comprehensive back-office solution to collect and process information for billing purposes and assure customer-service satisfaction.

Prior to the implementation of Inter-activatE, service activation was a combination of legacy systems and manual processes.

Replacing our existing OSS was critical for Union to serve our subscriber base across Wyoming, Utah and Colorado with a broad portfolio of services from which they can choose, says Alan Marchant, CIO at Union Telephone. Inter-activatE gives us the near real-time service activation we need to maximize both customer satisfaction and time-to-revenue for our services.

Inter-activatE receives the high-level bundled service requests in native XML from Union Telephones billing system, interprets these high-level bundles and determines the necessary activation steps required to configure the customer in Unions network. Accordingly, once the activation process is complete, InteractivatE then updates the billing system all in near real time.

In business for 90 years, Union Telephone is a family-owned-and-operated independent LEC. Originally a wireline operator exclusively serving Wyoming, Union Telephone expanded its service offering and coverage area with wireless voice, cable and Internet access within the last decade.

Delivering convergent services for the quad play is especially important for ILEC operators like Union Telephone, which can now serve its geographically dispersed subscriber community with a catalogue of services and service bundles, says Rick Woods, vice president of product management at Intec. Intec solutions are designed for the delivery of convergent services, handling virtually any service from any network element. Using Inter-activatE, Union has embraced convergence and is now well positioned as a one-stop service provider.
