ESPN Mobile, the MVNO from ESPN scheduled to launch in early 2006, has chosen Brightpoint Inc.s subsidiary, Brightpoint North America L.P., as its enabler.
This means Brightpoint will facilitate services including inventory management, custom packaging, reverse logistics and fulfillment for the MVNO.
ESPN Mobile already is working with Visage Mobile and Convergys Corp. Visage Mobile is providing ESPN Mobile with its back-office platform and carrier gateway, and Convergys is the billing services provider, operating its Infinys Billing and Rating software.
In addition to voice service, ESPN Mobile will offer subscribers sports programming and entertainment over mobile phones. Applications such as sports news, analysis, statistics, graphics and photos will be available, along with streaming video and audio. ESPN Mobile will sell ESPN-branded handsets, accessories and applications tailored to its target audience of sports fans.
