IP business phone system vendor Vertical Communications Inc. plans to roll out a hosted IP PBX offer in first quarter 2006, says the companys CEO Bill Tauscher, who spoke to an audience of VARs attending the CT Summit at CompTIAs annual conference in Las Vegas.
Tauscher, who delivered a keynote address at the conference, says the offer is in answer to difficulties carriers are having getting their services installed and working at the customers premises.
One out of two carriers is behind plan for hosted IP PBX service sales projections, Tauscher claims. This creates an opportunity for Vertical and its 200-member dealer channel. Verticals offer will be designed to be hosted by the companys dealers or by a carrier that will work with a vertical dealer for installation.
Tauscher says while some analysts are predicting 50 percent to 60 percent saturation for hosted IP PBX services among business with 20 or fewer lines, he is dubious. Nevertheless, he thinks its a good market for Vertical to tackle. Otherwise, we will be left at the station, he says. Verticals product line presently includes InstantOffice for distributed enterprises and TeleVantage for small and midsized business.
He also says hosted IP PBX offers dealers an opportunity for healthy margins even as prices begin to decline from todays $50 or $60 per user per month to $30 or $40 per user per month.
