The Broadband Services Forum, an international group working to promote IP television, gaming and other advanced capabilities over broadband networks, has named its nine board of directors members following an election.
Derek Kuhn, an Alcatel Inc. executive, has been reelected chairman of the board while Craig Forbes of net.com has been elected vice chairman. Other board members include representatives from Aliant Telecom, Juniper Networks Inc., Nortel Networks Corp., ON Demand Group, Siemens AG, Telekom Austria and Thomson.
“The Broadband Service Forum’s work in the broadband services space seeks to address the fundamental business and technology issues that are vital to the future of the broadband industry,” Kuhn said in a news release. “The recently elected board of directors provides a good representation of the groups that are most affected by these issues.”
The group says it has given top priority to matters related to IP television and interactive services, such as gaming and video, and the board of directors has approved white papers about these issues. The board also is evaluating potential IPTV pilot projects.
The Broadband Services Forum has scheduled a meeting Sept. 14 – Sept. 15 in Vienna, Austria, with another meeting slated for Dec. 1 – Dec. 2 in Sunnyvale, Calif. Both meetings are open to members and nonmembers.
