CTC Communications and Lightship Telecom, two telecommunications providers supporting businesses in New England, on Friday announced an agreement to merge under terms that were not disclosed.
The merged company will combine Lightships skills in data networking and traditional phone service with CTCs experience building fiber-optic networks and implementing business-class IP phone services, the private companies stated in a joint news release.
The new company will operate as CTC Communications, with corporate offices in Waltham, Mass.
CTC Communications CEO Ray Allieri will retain his position at the merged telecom provider.
Columbia Ventures, a private equity firm, owns CTC. Lightship is backed by J.P. Morgan and Megunticook Management.
