FiberNet Telecom Group Inc., a network service provider, has announced that Swisscom AG has selected FiberNet to convert and distribute its international traffic throughout New York City.
Through its Dynamic Gateway service, FiberNet will convert Swisscoms incoming private-line traffic from Europe, which is running on the international SDH standard, into SONET, the North American standard. FiberNet also will distribute Swisscoms traffic to its termination partners in the United States through its New York metropolitan area network.
The Dynamic Gateway service is saving Swisscom the time and expense of implementing remote multiplexing or digital-cross connection solutions, according to New York-based FiberNet, which announced plans in December to acquire Con Edison Communications Inc.
FiberNet says it implemented the Turin Networks Traverse 2000 multiservice optical transport platform to support its Dynamic Gateway service. The metropolitan wholesale carrier says it is able to manage and deliver efficiently a combination of SONET/SDH-based and next-generation data services, including fast Ethernet and gigabit Ethernet.
We are pleased to extend our relationship with Swisscom with our new Dynamic Gateway service, says John Dowd, vice president of business development with FiberNet. By utilizing the Turin Networks Traverse 2000 platform to enable this new service, FiberNet can offer new interconnection capabilities that help Swisscom optimize their network resources, take advantage of developing market opportunities and reduce network costs.
AT&T, CenturyLink and Connectwise are among those adding drama to telecom, IT and the channel since last fall. https://t.co/YTBVQGjWqt
