Global Crossing (Booth 219) is announcing a new wholesale VoIP Direct Inward Dial (DID) service that enables carriers to obtain nationwide local numbers through a single connection, eliminating traditional private line services.
This is the latest addition to Global Crossings wholesale VoIP portfolio, providing carriers local origination from direct inward dialed numbers, which are routed to the customers VoIP network through a SIP-based IP interconnection.
Broadband telephony providers can use VoIP DID service to enable IP-based local and long-distance communications services to residential and business customers. This service also provides a cost-effective alternative to traditional toll-free applications commonly used by call centers, calling card companies and ISP providers, according to Global Crossing.
Global Crossing VoIP DID is in successful beta testing and is expected to be available in the fourth quarter in North America with phased rollouts for other regions to follow.
