WestCom Partner Channel Announces Growth, Launch of CCX

Westcom Corp. (Booth 533), the New York-based provider of dedicated private lines which entered the alternate channel community in June, announces the launch of its Cross Connect Express (CCX) platform.

"We’re excited about the new opportunities presented to us in recent weeks," says Paul Zatek, director of agent sales for WestCom. "The timing of this show has allowed us to meet face to face with many of our new partners."

WestCom primarily has served the Wall Street and financial communities, providing trader-voice networks via its nationwide backbone. Point-to-point data networks are available from 56K/DS0 through OC48. Since entering the agent and reseller arena, WestCom has experienced substantial growth due to the aggressive marketing strategy, industry knowledge and competitive price levels.

"Our local loop offering is very competitive," says Zatek. "We provide an alternate to the LEC, which is what many of our customers are looking for. We also listened to the demands of the agents, and recognized the fact that receiving commissions on the local access is a very important part of the program."

Zatek says WestCom pays its agents on the total monthly recurring charges, and has been adding "a decent amount" of new agents each month since the launch of program last June. "Our Reseller base already has matched its production from last year, and recent partnerships with some experienced and sizeable providers will only improve on those numbers," explains Zatek.

WestCom’s CCX platform allows participating members to order new point-to-point trader voice services for next day delivery to any other participating member. Participating members must be connected digitally to the WestCom network, which will allow circuit delivery within 24 hours to other participating members. This allows trading the next day vs. the industry standard of 4-6 weeks, the company says. WestCom says it controls all cross connects for fast installation and delivers all CCX services over a privately managed network, allowing the company to detect, troubleshoot and re-route network issues quickly.

"Customers recognize the obvious advantages of going with a facilities-based provider," says Zatek. "Any reseller can promise 15 – 20-day installation, but our customers see the value of being able to place an order in the morning, and having it operational by the end of the day. If there is a line needed immediately, we will deliver it."

Currently, WestCom has more than 300 firms using the CCX platform, and has made plans to add network capacity to fulfill the demands of the offering.
