Q&A: Method Technologies President Aaron Tuomala on Selling Telecom Services

Summary

Aaron Tuomala founded Method Technologies in 2007 with the goal of serving as an outsourced IT department for small and medium businesses (SMBs) of up to 300 employees. This was a natural segue into entrepreneurship for Tuomala who had been the IT manager for a large insurance brokerage for nine years. Method Technologies offers "everything" -- from traditional IT services (network, storage, computers, and servers) to Web development and hosting to printers and copiers to phone systems and carrier services. Tuomala started helping customers with their telecom carrier services after he began selling phone systems. Initially, he was recommending telecom services without payment, but soon figured out he could make good money. Channel Partners spoke to Tuomala about his experiences adding telecom carrier services. This Q&A is is an edited transcript of that conversation.
