Mitel announced a new networking solution in partnership with VeloCloud’s SD-WAN technology.

Mitel is now offering MiCloud Edge, a solution that works to help business maximize bandwidth resources in order to improve voice and video application service quality.

“Even with the highest performing communications and collaboration tools, businesses require a reliable and consistent network powering them," said Jon Brinton, executive vice president of Mitel Cloud Division. “MiCloud Edge simply and cost-effectively transforms network reliability, delivering professional-grade cloud communications and ensuring business-critical applications are always prioritized."

It’s said to help companies that need to configure multiple branches with minimal IT staff. The company said the inclusion of SD-WAN technology lets organizations “detect the highest quality connectivity path."

Mitel said SD-WAN would save them three times as much money than traditional WAN

“SD-WAN has already become a differentiator for cloud providers because it gives companies the ability to quickly connect all their locations, maximize bandwidth, gain deeper insight into network performance and receive continuous repair of degraded links,“ said Dave Michels, enterprise communications analyst for Buffalo Communications. “As a result, companies get higher quality communications overall while lowering costs by reducing the use of expensive MPLS circuits and avoiding system upgrades."

We’ve written about VeloCloud several times in recent months. Earlier this week, it announced an SD-WAN service for Voice Quality Monitoring. It also put together a streak of partnerships with service providers, including Sprint.
