CHANNEL PARTNERS — The Channel Partners Conference & Expo got off to a hot start Tuesday night in Las Vegas with a busy First-Time Attendee Reception sponsored by AT&T.
The conference will include more than 5,000 attendees, with 40 percent of them new to Channel Partners. It also features more than 200 exhibitors, 50 of which are new to the show.
Matthew Bosch, Vizru’s head of sales, is a first-time attendee. The Santa Clara, California-based company sells B2B software.
“We’re actually going to be launching out of stealth within the next month, so for us it’s really just getting our name out there, getting some visibility within the channel partner networks," he said. “We actually just signed on our first partner … as well as a security company to add a security layer on top of our own services. And then we’re also part of IBM’s PartnerWorld. So we’re just kicking off our channel strategy."
Dan Crouch, president of MDC Technology Group, also is a first-time attendee. He said his company entered the VolP sector a few years ago, “so we came out to Channel Partners this year to get up to speed on where the industry’s going and what we can do better to serve our clients."
“I’m looking for those ideas that are outside my box to take my company to the next level," he said. “My company is always transitioning. We’re a networking company, so we started out almost 20 years ago as a white-box vendor. That is so far removed from where we are now it’s not even funny."
Mary Beckmann, IQ Wired’s vice president of strategic partnerships, is attending Channel Partners for the first time for business networking. The Denver-based master agent sells telecom services and AT&T is one of the carriers it uses.
“AT&T doesn’t have a large footprint in Colorado, but we have expanded nationally, so I’m hoping to make some connections here," he said.
The full conference begins at 9 a.m. local time Wednesday with welcoming remarks from Channel Partners VP Art Wittmann and sales VP Rick Reed.
