Time Warner Cable-owned NaviSite this week released a DaaS platform that accommodates graphics-intensive workloads, such as those required by engineers, architects and multimedia designers.

NaviSite teamed with NVIDIA to make that happen, and said the technology lets users run high-performance graphics applications with a traditional PC or thin client. NaviSite said that’s because its desktop virtualization provides a dedicated GPU processor that supports large data-processing tasks.

Other capabilities include the ability to store sensitive information, such as 3-D product design or off-shore hi-resolution maps, for example, in NaviSite’s data centers.
