Birch Communications has rolled out 11,520 strand miles of fiber in eastern Kentucky, thanks in part to its 2013 purchase of Lightyear Network Solutions.

Georgia-based Birch, a network and managed services provider that’s in the midst of buying Cbeyond Inc., expanded its territory last year with the $22 million Lightyear deal, which operated in Kentucky. Now, Birch is providing fast voice and data services to businesses, government agencies and consumers in the Bluegrass State.

Meantime, Birch is planning to relocate its Pikeville, Ken., offices in the coming months, but did not say where.

The company sells through the indirect channel.
