Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile and AT&T all posted excellent scores in RootMetrics’ latest rankings in Baltimore, but it was the first two that the mobile-analytics firm say tie for the “overall performance" crown in Maryland’s largest city.

Verizon scored 97.6 points, while T-Mobile tallied 97 and AT&T, 96.5 – all stellar marks. Nonetheless, it’s another blow to AT&T, which was the outright winner in RootMetrics’ last measurement, back in October 2013. Sprint was far back, posting just 81.3 points in this latest survey, which covers the first half of 2014.

RootMetrics’ overall performance rating is based on results across data, call and text testing.

Breaking Baltimore down, Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile were all close enough in the network reliability category for it to be declared a tie (although Verizon had the highest score). T-Mobile won for network speed, just barely edging out Verizon and AT&T.
