Business continuity provider Datto this week announced its newest appliance, the Virtual SIRIS.

This version of SIRIS comes in contrast to Datto’s traditional, physical SIRIS 2 gear. Virtual SIRIS at first will be compatible with VMware ESXi versions 5.1 and 5.5. All SIRIS technology is aimed at preventing system downtime with instant failover, and protecting and restoring data.

For its part, Virtual SIRIS features instant virtual failover for both physical and virtual systems without nested virtualization, and off-site redundancy through a secure hybrid cloud architecture.

“Our goal is to equip partners with a comprehensive suite of solutions that delivers unmatched business continuity no matter what type of IT infrastructure needs to be protected," said Ian McChord, product director for Datto.
