Mitel Promises More Cross-Selling Opportunities as Aastra Integration Moves Forward

As part of an updated strategy following its merger with Aastra, business-communications giant Mitel said on Thursday that it’s enabling new cross-selling opportunities for its channel partners.

Mitel says it particularly wants to address the requirements of regional markets, protecting the investment of existing customers and delivering a common desktop-communications experience with a clear migration path to the cloud.

One key focus in the early stages of integration is the development of a common desktop (targeted for mid 2015). Another is an applications portfolio (first feature integration expected by the end of this year). This will enable communication and collaboration from anywhere by supporting open standards and major industry frameworks such as Google and Microsoft.

Mitel says it will also aim to rapidly expand its contact-center capabilities, building on its solutions that combine business communications with applications that deliver seamless integration with – and adding value to – Microsoft Lync-based solutions.

"Our product integration strategy reflects our commitment to customers and channel partners, designed to ensure we can continue to support their businesses and protect their investment in us," said Rich McBee, Mitel CEO. “The combined Mitel and Aastra portfolio is used by over 60 million people worldwide, so we have to ensure that while our integration strategy has a common goal, it still delivers against specific regional requirements and market dynamics."
