EarthLink Intros More Managed Services for Businesses

EarthLink on Thursday debuted an IT network outsourcing portfolio for midmarket organizations.

The announcement reflects the growing trend within the channel to free up end users' IT departments by offering managed services; this lets IT personnel focus on revenue-generating projects rather than daily, time-consuming tasks.

The Atlanta-based provider introduced server management and monitoring, and network management and monitoring infrastructure services. The setup allows end users to offload the maintenance of their on-premises network devices and servers to EarthLink. Partners, meanwhile, bring in recurring revenue on those deals.

The platform keeps clients' technology up to date, oversees alarm and alert responses and resolution, and increases network and application reliability and performance, EarthLink said. Components that EarthLink manages include routers, switches, load balancers, WAN accelerators, SSL VPN concentrators, and wireless access points.

"It is vital that we offer a robust suite of managed services," said Michael D. Toplisek, EarthLink's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "Outsourcing server and network management and monitoring to EarthLink effectively expands the scope of what internal IT teams can achieve for their business by putting their skill sets to work on growth and high-visibility projects."
