Cloud services provider RapidScale has joined Masergy's Marketplace of on-net partners.
The agreement means managed services provider Masergy creates a virtual path for instant, software-enabled access to the partner's cloud service. Physical interconnections and cables are not required.
RapidScale said the partnership with Masergy validates the development of cloud MPLS, which integrates three services: packet prioritized private network connectivity (MPLS), compute services (servers and storage) and business applications (cloud apps/business apps-as-a-service).
RapidScale in April 2013 made a similar announcement with United Network Services Inc. (UNSi), a provider of carrier and managed services. They call the joint service CloudMPLS and deliver it through each of the company's respective direct and indirect sales channels.
CloudMPLS combines UNSi's private MPLS network services with RapidScale's cloud services, including CloudDesktop, CloudRecovery, CloudService, CloudOffice and CloudMail. In addition to cloud applications, the service includes monitoring of application performance, network, infrastructure, bandwidth, routers and switches. CloudMPLS enables the companies to deliver cloud services with quality of service and security ensured. In addition, CloudMPLS offers end users quick ROI since Internet access can be delivered from CloudMPLS facilities at a fraction of the cost of dedicated bandwidth to an office.
