Digium Debuts 'Risk-Free' Phone Rental Program

Digium has unveiled an IP phone rental program for its Switchvox Cloud hosted phone service – a program the company says "is all about more and greater options for partners."

The Asterisk pioneer calls the new program ideal for small and medium-size businesses, allowing Switchvox Cloud customers to more affordably implement an advanced Unified Communications (UC) phone system by eliminating all upfront hardware costs – including the phones – and combining all services into one, low monthly bill.

"Phone rental also increases the level of support that partners can provide for their customers," Brian Ferguson, product marketing manager at Digium, told Channel Partners. "The rental phone is [guaranteed] throughout the length of the contract so partners can offer replacement services for extended periods of time. Also remember that phone rental is month to month only, and commissions on that phone could be paid out for longer than a year. That means partners can potentially earn more (recurring) revenue from commissions than they would on a typical phone purchase."

The program comes with a 30-day, risk-free trial, something Digium says offers a VAR's customer a more effective testing option. That's important for a business that wants to make sure a hosted service is a good fit. The trial offers five user seats, five phones and a toll-free number for testing, giving customers the full power of Switchvox Cloud and Digium IP phones – eliminating risk and greatly increasing the chances of a sale (and commissions) for a VAR.

The program, announced this week at ITEXPO East in Miami, will be available in the lower 48 states beginning on Monday.
