Agent Alliance Names VP to Support Growth

The Agent Alliance, a consortium of IT and telecom brokers, announced Tuesday that it has concluded its two-month search for a vice president, naming Amy Humphreys to the post.

Agent Alliance VP Amy HumphreysHumphreys has 25 years of experience in for-profit and non-profit organizations, most recently as the direct of advancement for the Richmond Montessori School in Richmond, Va. Previously she held a technical sales role with Spectral Diagnostics. And, she is familiar with the telecom agency business as the wife of Ben Humphreys, president and CEO of Comtel Communications, an Agent Alliance member company. She has a degree in business administration from the College of William and Mary.

"Telecom and IT is very familiar ground for me," Humphreys said. "I watched the industry changing landscape in products and services and the evolving marketplace demand. I've supported Comtel as it has built a successful path and look forward to doing the same for all the Agent Alliance member companies."

In her new role, Humphreys will assist Agent Alliance CEO Bill Power in managing shareholder relations, developing and on-boarding new programs and providers, recruiting select new shareholders, and implementing strategic and tactical initiatives.

Humphreys will be the group's second full-time employee. Power was the first when he took on the role of CEO in 2008. Power will continue to take the lead on the external-facing tasks with the vice president taking on more of the internal tasks.

"Amy fills a vital roles for us and we are really enthusiastic about bringing her on board," said Power in a press statement. "We're at the launch pad on a number of new industry initiatives and need her valuable skills to maintain our course."

In a July interview, Power told Channel Partners that the alliance wants to accelerate its growth plans and needed more staff support to make that happen. This year, the alliance has added three new members – Cloud Taskforce, Fostar Telecommunications andAvant Communications Inc. – and is expecting to add more, with an initiative aimed at recruiting more IT solutions providers.

Furthermore, the group has stepped up efforts to vet new providers, particularly in the cloud space, for its members. That effort, Power said, requires a lot of man hours, which the new executive can help take on.

Agent Alliance Chairman Richard Murray, president of, said Humphreys' key asset is her ability to gain consensus among diverse constituents, committees and opinions. "That's the kind of talent we need to corral and work toward real industry alignment," he said.
