CLOUD PARTNERS -- Network service provider United Network Services Inc. (Booth 520) announced Wednesday at  Cloud Partners  that it has rolled out a suite of cloud services through its partnership with RapidScale (Booth 619), a cloud application provider.  The services are available through UNSi's indirect sales channel.

Under the partnership announced in April, UNSi will offer RapidScale's CloudServer, CloudDesktop, CloudMail, CloudRecovery and CloudOffice applications -- all over UNSi's new CloudMPLS service.

CloudMPLS is a private and secure MPLS network, delivering the  quality of service cloud applications require.

“The partnership brings a solution to the market that focuses on application performance, latency and packet loss as well as up-time," said Stephen John, UNSI's senior vice president and chief revenue officer, in a press statement.

“As the cloud grows so does the need to be the best at application delivery, which is what we are focused on with CloudMPLS and our strategic partnership with UNSi," said Randy Jeter, co-founder and CEO of RapidScale.

In addition, UNSi said it reduces bandwidth costs by eliminating the need for dedicated bandwidth, e.g. last mile loops for data center connectivity, since the connections are already in the data center.

Traditionally, an MPLS customer would need to add a node in their MPLS network to connect with a cloud service provider data center and in some cases to a redundant data center, explained Allan Schwartz, senior vice president of strategic planning and business development, in an interview with Channel Partners. In this situation the cloud provider, RapidScale, is already on-network, eliminating those costs, he said.

RapidScale's cloud services are delivered from data centers in Dallas; Sterling, Va.; and Irving, Calif.

In addition, Schwartz said, an advantage of CLoudMPLS is UNSi is carrier-agnostic, taking the best available connections from CLECs, ILECs and cable companies and creating a unified network.

UNSi and RapidScale will discuss CloudMPLS at the Cloud Partners Conference during a vendor presentation at 2 p.m., Sept. 12, in McCormick Place Room W474b.
