Here it comes. The iPhone 5S is almost here – and maybe Apple will double its pleasure this year.
The Silicon Valley giant has invited the media to a press conference one week from today, Sept. 10, for what will most certainly be the unveiling of the iPhone 5S – and perhaps other products. It's been almost one year since Apple released the last version of its iconic device – the iPhone 5. The new hardware is expected to look much like the iPhone 5, but come with an improved camera, a faster processor and possibly a fingerprint sensor for added security.
The biggest mystery surrounding the event might be a budget version of the iPhone – the so-called iPhone 5C – aimed at emerging markets where fewer people can shell out the big bucks for the traditional version of the handset. Analysts have predicted that it's coming, pictures of the supposed device have leaked online, workers in Chinese factories have reportedly said they're working on it – but Apple hasn't said a peep about it. Whether it's more than wild speculation remains to be seen.
We'll also be watching to see if Apple introduces a new version of the iPad, the world's best-selling tablet PC.
