AT&T and T-Mobile are taking pre-orders for the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
It'll set you back $300 at AT&T, but no additional contract is required because the device is paired with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 via Bluetooth; obviously, there's a contract required for the phone.
Since T-Mobile no longer subsidizes new devices, the Gear will cost you $200 up front and an additional $21 per month for 24 months. The Gear and the Note 3 are expected to be in stores on Oct. 2.
The new smartwatch will allow users to answer calls and read messages on their wrists as well as be reminded of notifications that you type in the Galaxy's calendar. While the new watch might seem appealing, keep in mind that it can only work with the Note 3. The watch is also said to have a low battery life so it could be a challenge to wear it the whole day without having to recharge it, Phone Arena reported.
Samsung is supposedly working on a sequel to the watch that would be compatible with any Android phone and most likely have a longer battery life. Look for that to be unveiled as soon as CES 2014 in January.
