Wireless giants AT&T and Verizon are preparing a pair of superstar smartphones – aimed at both the business user and the general consumer – for upcoming release dates. Will these phones challenge next month's debut of the iPhone 5S?
AT&T said today that it will launch the Nokia Lumia 925 on Sept. 13, with pre-orders beginning tomorrow. It'll set you back $100 with a new, two-year service agreement or $21 per month on the company's "Next" device upgrade plan.
Another Nokia device known for its camera, the Lumia 925 includes an 8.7MP PureView sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), advanced Carl Zeiss optics, and six lenses that enable quality photo-taking in low light. It also records 1080p HD video.
Other specs include a 4.5-inch display; a dual-core, 1.5GHZ processor; 1GB of RAM; and 16GB of built-in storage. The phone is also noted for its audio – you can record distortion-free stereo sound with deep bass using the High Dynamic range microphones.
Meantime, Verizon Wireless is getting on board the Moto X train. Verizon customers will be able to get their hands on the new Google-Motorola Mobility smartphone soon.
"Ready to #MeetMotoX with Verizon #4G LTE? Available online 8/29 & in stores in the coming weeks. $199.99 on contract," the carrier tweeted on Monday. It went on sale at AT&T last week.
The Moto X, which has received publicity for being built entirely in the U.S., has a 4.7-inch display; 2GB of RAM; 16GB of built-in storage; a dual-core, 1.7GHz processor; and a 10MP, rear-facing camera that shoots in 1080p HD.
