AT&T is out with some preliminary second-quarter numbers that are a big improvement over Q1.
The phone giant says, when the results are tallied at the end of this month, that it will have added 500,000 (net) wireless subscribers for the period April through June. That's nearly double the number it reported in the first quarter (296,000), Reuters noted. Not available yet were specific numbers regarding how many of those subscribers are signing up for new phone contracts or new tablet contracts.
AT&T also said subscriptions for its U-verse TV and broadband services are up from the first quarter, but didn't reveal specifics.
The Dallas-based operator just fired up 4G LTE service in 22 additional U.S. markets on Thursday.
