Star2Star Unveils Video Conferencing, iPhone Softphone

February 28, 2013 - News

CHANNEL PARTNERSStar2Star Communications (Booth 6011 and an Elite Sponsor) today announced two new products.

The first product is the StarPhone IP softphone client for the iPhone, available from the iPhone App Store. Star2Star combined an IP telephone app with presence and voicemail to create a softphone that lets users place and receive calls using any Star2Star telephone system.

StarPhone users appear on the Star2Star system as standard extensions, with access to all Star2Star system features. There's also find me/follow me call routing. Calls to other extensions can be made using the softphone’s built-in directory, or the user can enter any three- or five-digit extension number. Outbound calls made from the softphone travel over the IP data network, and are not billed for airtime as cellular calls. Other features include conference calling, user authentication and favorites list.

The second product is StarVideo Videoconferencing. StarVideo provides on-demand video conferencing for up to 12 users. The voice portion of StarVideo operates over Star2Star’s voice infrastructure so users without a video camera or computer still can participate in conferences.

StarVideo includes an adapted version of Star2Star’s multiuser, multisession text chat. Users can conduct group and sidebar discussions via text chat without disrupting the main videoconference. StarVideo also allows users to share, collaborate and comment on virtually any type of document via a whiteboard feature.

StarVideo is delivered as a Starlet application in the Star2Star Application Framework.
