EarthLink Inc. on Tuesday launched Data Center Connect.

The service uses EarthLink's private MPLS network to interconnect one or more customer sites to EarthLink data centers, providing access to the cloud. EarthLink said Data Center Connect protects application traffic between the data center and the MPLS network, which enhances service availability for platforms including cloud hosting, disaster recovery, colocation, managed security, cloud workspace and email.

EarthLink said Data Center Connect also features a burst-on-demand option that can double port speed, and added that the product honors SLAs up to the full burst bandwidth and supports class-of-service policies.
