Citrix announced Wednesday that it plans to acquire Zenprise and integrate Zenprise's mobile device management (MDM) with its Citrix CloudGateway and Me@Work solutions for managing mobile apps and data.

Citrix says the combination will enable the company to become the first to offer a mobile device, app and data management in a single, integrated enterprise mobility product line.

CloudGateway offers a single control point to manage and securely deliver native mobile apps, as well as Windows, Web and SaaS apps to any corporate or personal device. In October, Citrix added Citrix Me@Work, a mobile app family that includes Citrix ShareFile for secure mobile data access, Citrix GoToMeeting for mobile collaboration, Podio for social team collaboration, as well as new Citrix @WorkMail and @WorkWeb apps for secure mobile email and Web access.

Zenprise MobileManager offers MDM capabilities like geo-fencing, automated compliance and mobile content security, either from an on-premises server or cloud solution. It manages devices  across major platforms, including iPhone, iPad, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian and Windows Mobile.

Subject to closing conditions including regulatory approval, Citrix anticipates closing on the acquisition during the first quarter of 2013. Terms were not disclosed.
