Avaya has taken its unified communications (UC) platform virtual.

The company on Wednesday debuted Avaya Aura Virtualized Environment for businesses that want to keep their collaboration in the cloud, so there's less cost, equipment and complexity. And now is the time because, according to Nemertes Research, 70 percent of companies plan to virtualize their UC applications.

The virtual version of Avaya Aura lets users expand without adding equipment, and do so in much faster timeframes than with premises-based systems. It also includes VMware vCenter Server tools for diagnostics, provisioning and traffic management. Avaya further lets users combine virtualized and dedicated servers.

Finally, Avaya said Avaya Aura Virtualized Environment works with the Call Center Elite application. That means companies can add call center agents more quickly and cost-effectively, depending on seasonal, sales and purchasing trends.
